Given the kind of dependence we have on cellphones today, I think the law is a little unfair on kids...

but since I also don’t condone them taking advantage of the technology in tests or disrupting class with it, I think we should have a system where the kids leave their cellphones with the teacher at the start of the class and they can take it back when the class is over...

Kids in secondary or higher secondary are often trusted with chores and if they are to be told to pick up something from the market or get some other work done on their way back from school, cellphones are the best way to reach them... otherwise they just have to go back again after they get back home... I’m saying this from personal experience...

So i think instead of banning the whole thing, just ban the use of it during class or school hours....
