Clutching a biscuit in her right hand and with a murmur of ‘mum mum’ on her lips, a toddler anxiously awaits to be in the arms of her parents at Naina Devi Temple in Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh.
No one knows yet whether her parents had...

The aftermath of such tragedies are always heartbreaking. Bobette I also wish that someone from her family comes to claim here. There are others suffering as well so let us just hope that each one of them get solace quickly. The temple authorities ahould help such victimised people otherwise it would bring a bad name to them as well.

Touching story. Nice link. Sorry I was travelling and could see this only now.

If the lost child had been a boy claimants and adopters would have made a beeline to the temple. No matter if the boy kicked them around in their old ages later on.

Maybe true, but I still believe in the inherent goodness of people. And by the way all BOYS who grow up don’t kick around their parents.

Yes of course Nishaji. I subscribe to the view that exceptions do not make the rule.

Boy or girl.....is irrelevant. The point is that little one needs family ASAP. How about someone who has lost near dear ones in the same tragedy can adopt this infant.

Good one there Deepa...otherwise this was heading towards the worst ever debate- Boys vs Girls. You picked a good point there, someone who lost an infant in a similar tragedy could adopt this poor baby. But then even adopting a child isn’t the easiest of things to do in this country. LAW here scares us all especially after the price Mehtas paid for their honesty.

I agree with you on the law aspect. Nothing in India seems to be easy if taken the correct course.
Sad to know that even though there will be families eager to parent this orphan but our law will play a villainous role.

Boy or girl........isn’t that irrelevant. In context of Indian society, it becomes so very relevant where it shouldn’t be. Boys are preferred over girls.
Anyways, I do agree with what Deepa suggests afterwards. Such parents should come out and take this humble initiative. Who knows their might be so many poor ones waiting for such favor.

Yup, in India this bias attitude is existing even in today’s generation :( Disgusting.
As for adoption, it is the best noble deed we can do. I go to a missionary orphanage often and have realized that so many innocent lives are eager to jump into your secure arms.
But not many childless families are comfortable to nurture these abandoned kids.

’not many childless families are comfortable to nurture these abandoned kids’-it is again because of the way we see adopted children in our country. The child would grow up but no one would stop telling him that he/she was adopted. India is one of worst countries to live in when we talk about social acceptance issues.

Adopting a baby is not an easy task, both the legal procedures as well as the social and mental acceptance are difficult to achieve. And in this case, this little girl can not be handled to anyone so soon, because the law should wait for her parents to be found and take home the kid. That is the best way, or else after some years, the story may come out as a filmy one. A person claming for the baby!
